SIMC Faculty Attend ICA India Chapter’s 1st Anniversary Celebration Featuring Panels on AI and Academic Development
Faculty members from SIMC, Pune, were delighted to attend the first anniversary celebration of the India Chapter of the International Communication Association (ICA) — an event that brought together leading voices in media and communication scholarship.
Hosted by Prof. (Dr.) Mira K. Desai and her team; the celebration featured two insightful panel discussions. The first panel focused on “The Impact of AI on the Creation, Sharing, and Experience of Media,” and included thought-provoking perspectives from several experts. Discussions explored how AI is transforming media practices and user experiences, a topic highly relevant to the SIMC faculty’s ongoing academic and professional work.
The second panel, centred on the professional development of young scholars, was organised by Usha Raman and featured distinguished speakers such as Dr. Ruchi Kher Jaggi (Director, SIMC and Dean, Faculty of Media & Communication, SIU), Shashi Nanjundaiah, and Devina Sarwatay. The session offered valuable advice and inspiration for early-career researchers and educators, sparking meaningful conversations about mentoring, publishing, and navigating academia.
The event offered an excellent opportunity for SIMC faculty to engage with peers across institutions, reflect on the evolving landscape of communication studies, and contribute to the vibrant scholarly community that ICA continues to foster in India.
