Dr Anuja Pradhan
Associate Professor
Dr Anuja Anil Pradhan is a consumer culture theory researcher focussing on media studies, the politics of consumption, and gender scholarship. Her current research projects include understanding gender and genre in the fantasy romance book community, unpacking ideas around taste and connoisseurship in the specialty coffee marketplace, and conceptualising re-consumption experiences in relation to media. Dr Pradhan teaches subjects like consumption studies, marketing communications, and qualitative research methods, informed by latest academic research, including her own work.
Dr Pradhan is the co-host of two international academic podcasts - Tales of Consumption (on critical consumer research), and Alternative Format (on pursuing a PhD in Marketing via alternative format). She has received the Academy of Marketing Dissemination Grant for the latter.
Dr Pradhan has published in journals like Marketing Theory and Journal of Marketing Management. She is currently co-editing a special issue of Marketing Theory on Advancing Marketing Theory through Alternative Qualitative Methods. She has previously published in books such as Postcolonial Marketing Communications (Springer Nature) and Marketing Ethics and Consumer Society (Routledge). Dr Pradhan is a regular attendee of the Consumer Culture Theory Conference where she won the Best Paper Award in 2017. She is also the recipient of the Fulgoni PhD Scholarship award at Lancaster University, UK from where she completed her PhD in Marketing in 2020. Dr Pradhan has been associated with the University of Southern Denmark, Denmark as an Assistant Professor and PostDoc. She has a Masters in Marketing from the University of St Andrews, UK.
