SIMC does not train you in terms of media alone. SIMC equips you in terms of 360 degrees of communication. When you enter the industry as a communication management professional, you will have an additional insight into any project or campaign in terms of audio-visual production, advertising and journalism.
Maneck Kotwal, President of Batch 2007,
Currently the Director – Games Village, Organizing Committee, Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi.
For the students of Batch 2008, Change was one universal word to sum up our life at SIMC. We are one of the few batches which saw the college morph from its 5000 sq ft campus on Senapati Bapat road, to the 30000 sq ft in Viman nagar and finally its sprawling campus in Lavale. We also saw it change from Symbiosis Institute of Mass Communication to Symbiosis Institute of Media & Communication.
Tushar Jambekar, President, Batch 2008
SIMC definitely opened up a window for me. I hail from a small town. Back in 1995-96 batch, SIJC was still in its nascent stage, students were yet to be provided computers. I’ve made some great friends who are currently doing well in the industry. It was here when I first took the courage to go to Mumbai & pursue my passion. It gave me the direction I needed. When was I invited to receive the star alumni award recently, I was pleasantly surprised & proud of the new changes at SIMC, there is a sea of change. The innovations are commendable; I’d definitely say that students today are geared for the industry.
Yash Patnaik, TV Producer
The communications industry is evolving at a rapid pace and with the inherent dynamism of communication challenges, theoretical knowledge holds minimal significance. In this background, the approach taken by SIMC to practically groom each trainee with a host of events and internships is wonderful.
I have personally been involved in Fest-O-Comm and Nationwide Footprints having passed out from the batch which initiated the first edition of these two events, I can vouch that there is no better way to get trained for future. I wish SIMC and all trainees all the best as they add more events to make it a literally eventful year.
T. Anand Mahesh (batch 2001), Managing Partner, Mavcomm Consulting Pvt. Ltd.
It’s the constant urge to try and make sense of the unpredictable, see it first and relay it fastest thats the name of the game called 24/7 news for television. SIMC provided me the perfect launch pad by sharpening my skill sets and acting as the perfect foil for fresh aspirants and the media industry
Deepthy Menon, Bureau Chief – Mumbai, TIMES NOW
I strongly believe that SIMC imbibed in me the strong qualities of not only a media professional but also as a Thinking human being. The rigorous training & execution & out of box thinking has helped me grow not only creatively but also scale management heights in the organisations that I have worked in.
The curriculum of SIMC was more industry driven then theory driven. This really helped me in understanding the norms of the industry while at college & made me swiftly adapt & excel when entered the industry.
I wish SIMC & all SIMCians all the best & welcome them to the industry.

“Time flies past us, but always leaves its shadow behind”- The essence of my SIMC experience is summerised with this phrase. Apart from the knowledge & learning that SIMC imparted to me, it’s the softer aspects like collaboration & teamwork that have left a lasting impression in my mind. We were only the second batch of SIMC, after it was renamed SIMC from Symbiosis Institute of Journalism & Communication (SIJC), hence a lot of effort had to go in to build the new identity, ‘Collaborate to Create’ was the mantra we followed in SIMC and till date this phrase is something I apply on a day to day basis in my professional life.
Navneeth Mohan, Vice President & Business Head (Western Region), Encompass- Member WPP Group PLC
To communicate is the most basic emotion and need of all of humanity. So, it follows that in the corporate world too, its eminence is unquestioned. But the art lies within the what and the how of communication. And that’s where the expertise of a communications specialist comes into play, who makes the difference between an average, an also-been message and an outstanding piece of communication.
Vandana Mohal Dewan, Chief - Corporate Communications, Pantaloon Retail (India) Ltd.
In 1991 when I had quit the university’s LLB course to join SIMC my colleagues at the law college had opined that I had made a blunder. They warned me not to join an ‘autonomous’ institute course which was launched just one year ago. But, they were proved wrong. That one year in SIMC provided me the right platform and gave me my first job, thanks to Dr Vishwas Mehendale, our first director, and Dr S B Mujumdar. Today, SIMC has become one of the most reputed training institutes for media persons and I feel proud that I was a SIMC student. Love you SYMBI.
