The Indian media industry today is replete with innovative ideas and ventures. Footprints is one such avenue which allows students and aspiring media professionals to explore these opportunities Footprints is a congregation of visionaries and distinguished faces in the media. The seminar comprises of interactions between students and these pioneers of the media.
The junior trainees of SIMC, the first year students, are divided into various teams to organise Footprints. SIMC's annual series of media seminars , Footprints is held annually in various cities of India spanning about twelve in number ranging from Delhi to Kochi and Mumbai to Guwahati. Footprints is the first taste of event management that students of SIMC face with the enthusiasm and fervor of newly inducted media aspirants. The event has been executed with commendable success for the past eight years now.
The topics of discussion till date have involved extensive talks and debates on the various aspects of radio, television, films, advertising, public relations and so on. It has acted as a platform for the students to gain practical experience, interact with the media professionals and organise an event from scratch. The responsibility of coming up with topics and themes for the seminar, deciding on speakers, identifying sponsors, finalising venues, bringing in participants, getting media coverage lies solely on the students.
Our event has set foot on the right note in the past with eminent speakers like Rajdeep Sardesai, Pankaj Pachauri, Roshan Abbas, Rahul Bose, Soumitra Chatterjee, Monideepa Bannerjee, Harish Bijoor and the likes of Suhel Seth joining us to share their time and experience. We have previously been graced with the presence of media stalwarts from the foremost media channels like NDTV, Radio City, Equus Red Cell, Business Standard, Wizcraft, My FM, The Times Of India, Radio Mirchi, CNN IBN, O&M Worldwide, and many regional brands.
