Faculty Profile
Malati Rao, Associate Professor, Audio –Visual, has directed, written and produced Fiction and Documentary Films. She is the recipient of the Margaret McNamara Award from the World Bank Family Network for her short film The Witch of Agnesi. She holds an MFA degree in Film and Media Arts from Temple University, Philadelphia and an MA in Mass Communication from MCRC, Jamia, Delhi. Her television work, including Hospital-the first reality series on Indian TV, has been telecast on BBC World and Star TV Network.
Dr. Swati Nalawade, Associate Professor, Marketing & Brand.
A PhD in Marketing, MBA & M. Sc. Zoology. Her Ph.D. was awarded for the topic, “Non-Durable Consumer Products- A Study of New Product Launch Strategies.” She has more than fourteen years of work experience that includes working with organisations from Education, Media, Research and FMCG industries. Few of them are Essel World, TNS India, and Management institutes of repute like IIM Ahmedabad, SP Jain Mumbai, MDI Gurgaon, Bajaj Mumbai, Symbiosis Institute of Operations Management, Nashik. Along with is amalgamated an experience in Consultancy, Seminar- workshops & Training for organisations like L&T, LIC, Airport Authority of India, Apollo Tyres, ESCP EAP France, Wartsila India, Bombay Management Association, Ministry of Industry- Mumbai Chapter etc.
Her areas of interests are Marketing, Product and Brand Management & Consumer Behavior.

Shyama Dutta , Associate Professor, Advertising.
A Post Graduate in English, she has worked as a copywriter and copy chief across agencies, with a range of concepts for leading products. As a consultant she has also headed several communication projects for corporates and social development agencies. Over the last few years she has gathered a rich experience in digital marketing and advertising.

Tejal Parikh , Associate Professor, Visual Communication.                                                                     Tejal Parikh, an architect from the School of Architecture, C.E.P.T., Ahmedabad, got into advertising as a Creative Director, heading the design studio at one of the leading advertising agency for over 10 years. With insights into consumer behaviour, media trends and innovations, he is very familiar with various aspects of print, multimedia productions and visual communication, and has various print-media campaigns and corporate films under his belt. An architect by discipline, an advertising man by profession and a photographer by passion, Prof. Parikh, besides being responsible for developing the syllabus for Visual Communication specialization also takes care of Advertising Creatives and Creative Planning modules.

Ananya Mehta,  Asst. Professor and Chairperson – Placements
 
With seven year of experience of which three with SIMC, Ananya Mehta,    is an Accredited Faculty under Faculty Development Program  organized by Symbiosis International Deemed University and also Heads the Placements at SIMC.                                                              
   He has post graduated in 2003 from Faculty of Journalism, MS University of Baroda, Vadodara. He has a good exposure of handling different events and public relations activities. Prior to joining SIMC, he was appointed by Depuy India Pvt Ltd, a Johnson & Johnson company, to handle PR activities for their Centre for Knee Surgery, Vadodara. He has also served as Lecturer with Department of Journalism, HNG University, Patan. Besides, handling PR & Events, he loves theatre and has been a casual announcer with AIR, Vadodara station.
Ruchi Jaggi,  Asst. Professor - Communcation Theories and Research
Ruchi Jaggi is a post graduate in Mass Communication with nine years of professional experience. She teaches communication theories, communication & culture and communication research. She has worked with print , content writing/editing and PR sectors earlier. She has been a media educator for about six years now. She has been constantly involved with scholarly research. She has published on various topics in research journals and also made paper presentations at national and international conferences, the latest at the 19th Annual Asian Media and Information Centre Conference at Singapore. Her key research interest area is popular culture representations on Indian television. Her doctoral research area is ‘Japanese Animation Programming on Indian TV Channels: The Socio-Cultural Dimension'.
Suhas Gatne Head - Symbiosis Studios, Faculty-Audio Visual Productions,
is a qualified & experienced senior Media person having over 14 years of experience in TV production in Mumbai & Pune. He has worked for several TV channels in Mumbai like Home TV,ZeeTV,Sahara TV, Sony TV,SAB TV, Star One,DD-1 etc. as both in house as well as freelance Cameraman & Director. Mr Gatne has also shot Ad films, Documentary films, corporate films, TV Serials etc.
In the last five years, he has been teaching and conducting Camera, Lighting and TV production workshops in various Media and Mass Communication institutes in Pune & Mumba.
