Journalism
"Journalism is a noble calling. The work of a journalist is to report, write, and explain in accordance with the highest standards of the profession."
-World Journalism Institute
For those who want to make a difference to society, there are few professions more eulogistic than journalism. As the fourth estate, it is an all-inclusive forum to ensure that democracy is played out in all its nuances. More than in any other profession, journalists must consistently demonstrate the qualities of precision, accuracy, speed, fairness, understanding and public responsibility. After all, journalists contribute in the building of a nation by informing, interpreting, educating and enlightening people.
Symbiosis Institute of Media & Communication, since its inception 20 years ago, has been known as a journalism and mass communication hub. Students here learn more than just reporting, editing and newsroom management. It is here that they understand the intricacies, opportunities and challenges of being a journalist; they are taught the tough job of being nation builders. After all, the pen is mightier that the sword.
