Final Admission update
-
As mentioned in all our previous updates, our target has been to wrap up our admission process by April 30th 2012. We are happy to share with you that apart from future admission offers made against cancellations, we have now closed the admission process for Batch 2012-14, for both MBA and MMC streams.
We are publishing the preferred wait list MBA (Open Category), Preferred wait list MBA (Reserved category) and preferred wait list MMC (Open Category) so that candidates can understand for themselves where they stand and estimate their chance for gaining admissions at SIMC. Cancellations are difficult to predict and we cannot give any exact detail for those on our preferred wait list. But we would like to assure you that being on this list is a positive indication of our interest in you.
For those who have not been contacted by the admission office so far(below the cutoff : MBA: 50.14 and MMC: 42.50) we would like to mention that we may get in touch with you if and only after the preferred wait list has been exhausted. This may take some time and we are once again not in a position to quantify this time. We advise you to pl go for admissions in hand now.
In case seats do open up, we will contact individuals by rank on the merit list with an offer of admission and you may then consider whether to join SIMC or not at that point of time.
We thank you all for your support and patience. It was an intense last few months for all of us here at the admissions office but it was well worth the effort as we are proud to have a talented pool of students join us this year.
We believe that we have had the lowest acceptance rate among all comparable colleges and we do hope that the incoming 2012-14 will be a “second batch with a difference".
We would like to close this communication wishing all applicants the very best in their future career.

Admission Update about our “pre-offer” for the last few seats at SIMC Pune:
A few seats in MBA and even fewer in MMC remain available, and we are releasing some admission pre-offers to the candidates who have made it to the new cut offs (MBA: Open/ General Category 51.14; SC :31.36 and MMC : Open /General Category : 44.50). Pl check your status in the results section of our website. If the status has changed to “Pre-offer”, you are a step closer to admission to SIMC Pune.
You will receive a mail from admissions@simc.edu providing further details by noon today. You will be required to confirm to us about taking up the admission in three days through an email. On receipt of your affirmation about joining SIMC Pune the admission result status will change to “Updated merit list”. The confirmation will be made on a first come first Serve basis.
The response time for candidates receiving the “pre-offer” is lesser as we are asking them to accept or decline our offer in three days, so that the free seats can be offered to “interested” candidates without further delay.
For those not accepting the Pre-offer and those who have sought cancellations so far, their status will be changed to “Offer withdrawn”.
In case of cancellations we will be contacting the next candidate on the waiting lists. We will be closing admissions by the 30th of April 2012, in any case.
The last leg of selection is critical in bringing the most interested candidates to our institute and we wish to leave no stone unturned in ensuring the same. As always, we would like the best available candidates to join SIMC Lavale.
You can contact us on our email : admissions@simc.edu or call us on 08888864620 / 02039116100/20.
We wish you luck.Regards,

Admission Update 15 : Third Merit List-B
-
In order to release the Third Merit List on time, April 5, 2012, we had pro-actively collated all the payments received till April 4.
Simultaneously, we telephonically sought confirmations of unpaid candidates on whether they would like to make the payments or to check whether their payments were in transit. Reconfirmation was also sought from all those who had requested for an extension of couple of days to make the payment.
As we had collated the data on April 9, 2012, we realized that some additional admission offers can be released to match the current vacancies in MBA and MMC programme
Consequently, we had released few more seats yesterday, April 9, 2012 both for MMC and MBA as part of Third Merit list referred as Third Merit List-B.

Admission Update & important information for students on Second Merit List : March 21, 2012
We would like to thank the large percentage of candidates from our First Merit List who have accepted our offer of Admission. As many students have accepted the offer the competition in the second Merit list continues to remain steep.
The last date of payment for First Merit list was 20th March 2012. We attempted to personally contact and / or speak with almost every candidate on the 1st Merit List before confirming or withdrawing the offer to join SIMC, Pune.
As per our earlier website admission notice, we announced the Second Merit List on the 21st of March 2012. The new cut off score (for open/ general category) in MBA (Communication Management) is 53.07 and that for MMC is 48.05.
Category Open / General SC ST DA KM MBA 53.07 34.29 28.57 24.79 Quota Filled up MMC 48.05 NA NA NA NA * NA : Indicates non availability of candidates in First Waitlist / Second Waitlist per category
We have sent offer letters to candidates on First Waitlist (upgraded to Selected – Second Merit List) on the basis of seats that have opened up. Vacant Seats under reserved category, where there are no more applicants have now been included in the Open / general category seats, leading to some more seats in this category.
A great deal of effort went in to collate the payment information, confirmation for cases of non-payment and preparation of majority of offer letters on 21st March,2012.The package contains the following:
Offer letters on SIU letterhead for MBA and MMC Second Merit List candidates have been dispatched on 21st March,2012 along with the following annexure.
Annexure 1. Bank Loan Letter on SIMC letterhead
Annexure 2. Mode of Payment of Fees
Annexure 3. List of Supporting Documents
Annexure 4. Personal Details Form
Second Merit List candidates must pay their fees by 4th April, 2012, else their offer for admission will stand cancelled, and the seat will be opened to candidates on the Waiting Lists as per ranking.
As and when seats become available, (and they will on April 5th and April 20th in chunks, in a slower trickle thereafter) we will inform the candidates on First Wait List and some of the high rankers in Second Wait List. Candidates will find their status change from 'First Wait list' to 'Selected – Third Merit List'.
In our experience, there will be cancellations right through to July 2012, as candidates get offers from institutes of higher preference. When a cancellation happens, we will use this space to update on a weekly basis, after April 20th.
We would like to mention that we have disclosed aggregate information instead of complete lists adopting a "need to know" principle, rather than an open information regime. Both have its own merit. However, like most premier schools, we use IT to provide specific information to individual candidates, through our website. Our Admission Process gets audited by an independent group, to ensure its integrity. And, we attempt to provide information in a more timely manner with higher frequency, and will continue to do so in the future.
We would once again like to thank all the candidates still awaiting an offer from SIMC Pune and we do hope that at least some more of you will be able to join, as seats open up on 5th April and then on April 20th, 2012 and if any, thereafter.

Update on SIMC Pune PG Admissions Result

Update on SIMC (PG) Pune Admissions: an overview for the applicants (and their parents):
At the outset we would like to thank all the applicants who applied to and made it through various stages of admissions to our MBA and MMC programmes, 2012-14 batch.
From Last year, Admission at SIMC Pune is more intense and competitive. This is due to a multitude of reasons:
1. The admission process itself underwent a sea change . The students called in for GE / PI went through
a. Group Exercise (MBA) or Written test (MMC) [GE]
b. Personal Interaction with a panel comprising of an internal faculty member and an external industry professional [PI]
c. A non-graded, non-gating psychometric test, (based on validated scales conducted and interpreted by an experience and reputed expert team and used as a probing input during PI, introduced at SIMC since last year. d. The total score of 100 for final evaluation comprises of 50 points derived from the SNAP score, 25 points derived from GE / Written test and the balance 25 from PI.2. The number of seats for admission to AY 2012-14 (as stated in the prospectus) are 120 for MBA (all specialisations put together) and 60 for MMC (for both the specialisation areas)
3. Simultaneously we invited a larger number of candidates to evaluate them for specific suitability to our programmes. We wanted a greater diversity and also offer a chance to those who could demonstrate their creative potential and /or genuine interest in the Media and Communication industries. In our experience, only a detailed PI has the ability to evaluate these desired characteristics that SNAP results may not predict.
4. We also invited students from the MBA and MMC GE/PI wait list-2 (to offer a chance to deserving candidates with lower SNAP scores) during specially held GE / Pi sessions on March 1 and 2nd, 2012 at Pune. Quite a few from these groups also made it to the final Merit lists, validating our hypotheses.
5. Our GE / PI process started on 20th February and concluded by 5 pm on 2nd March 2012, with the last group of MMC applicants. The duly approved results are uploaded on our website on March 6, 2012, as per deadline in the SIMC prospectus.
6. The success rates this year is 22.42% for MBA candidates, making it to the Merit List and 20.83% to the MMC Merit list. We expect that the selected students will learn more from an industry validated curriculum, have a better ability to apply these learnings during their internships and industry projects. All of these factors enumerated above will lead to a stronger image for SIMC as an Academic institution as also for its faculty and students.
7. We understand that there are some clarifications required additionally, that will help interpret individual results correctly. For more details on your admission results and related facts, pl click on the appropriate category below, for an overall picture per status type:
Selected – First Merit List

Second Wait List
We appreciate all those who were interested in joining SIMC but due to intense competition we were unable to proceed further, during this year's admission process. Not making it to SIMC this year does not reflect on one's capability or potential and we are certain that you will have many opportunities for associating with SIMC Pune in the future.

GE-PI Dates for Waitlist-2 Candidates : MBA & MMC Programme
Programme GE-PI Date Cutoff MBA March 1,2012 45 MMC March 2, 2012 Will be declared on February 28, 2012 after 5.00pm GE-PI Status : MBA Waitlist-2 candidates
Dear Aspirants,
It gives us the great pleasure to inform you that the response to our GE/PI Process has been quite overwhelming. We believe, we have now built a strong pipeline for our 2012- 14 Batch.
However, we realize that there are many more aspirants who could not make it to the GE/PI Process due to their SNAP Score. We also realize that the SNAP Score does not reflect the scale of the key traits and skills of the aspirants, there are skills and traits which become apparent only during the GE/PI Process and to ensure that we also give opportunity to those aspirants who potentially have the traits that we look for but have not had the SNAP Score to have made it to the GE/PI Process in the first round. Accordingly, we will now be sending invitation letters of all candidates with SNAP Scores of 45 and above but below 50. The process will be conducted on March 1, 2012 for MBA.
All eligible candidates will also receive individual letters of intimation. We hope that with this step, we will be able to give fair opportunity to those aspirants who otherwise would have lost the opportunity due to their SNAP Score.

Regarding GE-PI status of Waitlist-2 candidates
The Admission Cell had sent out an email, asking Short-list and Waitlist-1 candidates to confirm their participation for the GE-PI process by February 14, 2012. However about 40 per cent of candidates have not yet confirmed their participation. As we continue to receive confirmation mails, we will be able to give the status on GE-PI for waitlist -2 candidates only on February 25, 2012, when the GE-PI process for MBA will be completed.
Meanwhile, we request all MMC –Short-list and waitlist-1 candidates who are yet to confirm to do so by February 20, 2012.

An update on the GE grouping process:
To ensure that every aspirant gets a fair chance and opportunity to perform and demonstrate his skills in the Group Evaluation process, the groups are arrived at by using the following norms.
1. Candidates from Open and Reserved are grouped together during each Morning and afternoon session.
2. It is ensured that the distribution of snap scores has a range reprersentative of the scores of Short-listed and Wait List 1 candidates.
3. Both short listed and waitlist-1 candidates are merged together.
Thus a GE group of 8 people could have representation from open categories, reserved categories, short listed candidates, waitlist-1 candidates and will have candidates with high, median as well as low snap scores.
